South Africa To Palestine

You are going to find that human rights matter a lot to most of the world. And just like what happened in South Africa with the fall of apartheid the same will happen in Israel. The only question is how many have to die before that happens? But it has to happen. Do you think a future generation will be comfortable with apartheid? The trend among people under 50 is crystal clear, they do not like seeing kids’ parts in body bags on their newsfeeds.

Many of you are too young or were not directly involved to understand the atmosphere before the fall of apartheid. Apartheid in SA, like Apartheid in Israel, was popular with the big powers. You would read the opinions of Whites and see hardened support and justification for why apartheid in SA was okay. They also blamed the natives, they also had excuses. Israel used to support the apartheid government. But what is new? What happened in America on the day of emancipation? They said it would be a blood bath, they said it the something for South Africa. And this is why they still talk about “Farm Murders” because the last of the holdouts are so invested in this narrative of civilized vs uncivilized cannot live together. Right now as I am typing I am sure the majority of Whites in South Africa still hold the view that the days of apartheid were better.

In hindsight, we see how vile apartheid SA was, but it was not so vile to the evil folks who supported it at the time. Mandela was a terrorist just like Hamas and Hezbollah. The USA designated him a terrorist the same way as Ismail Haniyeh.

With the rise of social media, this is the worst decade to try to run a genocide in. We also know how history books record this event. There is no GENOCIDE IN HISTORY that is painted in good light. Not the Jewish Genocide, not the Native American one, not the Rwandan one, and not the Belgian Congo one. you cannot point to one genocide that history remembered in favorable terms.

Even Hollywood doesn’t attempt to sell the conquest of Native Americans as a good thing anymore.

THE SOUTH AFRICA PROBLEM

We have to be very careful holding up South Africa as a success story of a “one-state solution for all people. The rainbow is a disaster.

If it worked out for some that is 5% of the so-called Blacks and it didn’t work out for 5% of the whites. Most people struggle to tell the difference from within the context of their poverty.

This is not the focus of this short piece we have written about SA so many times so all of that is covered. And we did not do so in the traditional black people vs white people style. Both groups are a serious problem to the future of South Africa in radically different ways. BOTH!

Here is the takeaway, the failure of South Africa is not justification for apartheid. The failure of the integration of African Americans into America is not justification for continuing Jim Crow. Out of inequity, you will get more inequity and resistance. That is one lesson history has taught us.

The Native Americans are also not doing so well, and the Native people of New Zealand and especially Australia are all messed up despite their inclusion as equals in their respective societies.   The fight goes on but I don’t think they will ever win because their numbers are so decimated. The longer Israel delays its integration or two-state solution it will only make the transition to justice harder in the future. We think the one-state solution is impossible and only a two-state solution will redress the imbalance. Even today, with equal rights on paper for White Jews and African Jews, look at the social reality. So imagine Palestinians living inside Israel. What for, to suffer another indignity?
